  1. Buddakan, 325 Chestnut Sreet
The spectacular Asian decor, the fun music and the crowd of friendly and happy people all factor into the great energy of this restaurant and make it the perfect place to start off a big night. Their Asian fusion kitchen is of unbelievably high quality; the tuna tartar and the Chilean seabass are to die for! Another plus is their valet parking service.

  2. Amada, 217 Chestnut Street
This relatively new Spanish tapas restaurant offers tapas creations that have never been seen before. Great spot for a large group dinner, as long as everyone has a similar taste. Order 2-3 plates a person and try some of each one, the different flavours are a playground for your senses! As the waiters bring the plates out bit by bit, make sure you are not in a rush. Also have a look at the cocktail menu.

  3. Melograno, 2201 Spruce Street
Best BYOB in Philadelphia! Their Italian food (especially their homemade pasta) is prepared with care every time and the waiters are very knowledgeable on the ingredients. Due to its popularity and the limited number of tables, this restaurant only accepts reservations from Monday to Wednesday. For the rest of the week I recommend putting your name on the waiting list early in the evening and going for a drink until your table is ready. It is definitely worth the wait!
  4. Rouge, 201 south 18th Street
The place to see and be seen! Very trendy but still intimate, this restaurant is the best location for people watching and the perfect break from shopping on Walnut Street. Try to get a table outside if the weather is nice and enjoy the beautiful view of Rittenhouse square. An insider tip is the signature burger with tenderloin meat, gruyere cheese and truffle French fries.
  5. Barclay Prime, 237 south 18th Street
A must for meat lovers! It stands out as one of the best and unique steakhouses, distinguishing itself by its mix of the stylish bar area and the traditional dining room. Famous for its 100 dollar cheese steak (a bottle of champagne is included) and for its truffle mashed potatoes, this restaurant is a fantastic place for anyone who wants to experience a spectacular and exclusive steak house.

  6. Continental, 1801 Chestnut Street
Are you in the mood for a delicious brunch on a weekend with a bunch of friends? Then you should definitely choose Continental! With their large family style plates and their great variety of food (and extremely good bellinis!) it is almost impossible to dislike this place. Another fun factor is their hip decor, such as the “dog-chairs” in the bar area or their swing chairs that are hanging from the ceiling.

  7. Tria, 123 south 18th Street
Yes, they have excellent beer and appetizers, but this place is really for the wine and cheese lovers. Even though the long list of different types of wine and cheese might look intimidating at first, the servers will answer your questions and give you advice on what to choose (and you can get every wine on the list by the glass). It is also a great spot to satisfy afternoon snack cravings when strolling through the streets of Phillys center city.

  8. Alma de Cuba, 1623 Walnut Street
If you are adventurous and ready to dive into the exciting and indefatigable world of Cuba, this is the right spot for you. The inspiring Cuban music, the slideshows projected on the walls and the drinks in the downstairs lounge as well as the authentic Cuban dishes in the upstairs restaurant will give you a taste of this fascinating country and will definitely put you into the Latin mood. Top off your dinner with the Chocolate cigar and you will find yourself in a Cuban oasis!

  9. Vetri, 1312 Spruce Street
Often described as one of the best Italian restaurants in America, this tiny place requires reservations up to 2 months in advance. It is a very cosy and romantic gourmet restaurant, perfect for a date. The chefs tasting menu offers first-timers a great taste of all their delicious dishes and the sommelier will choose the perfect wine by the glass to every course. I also highly recommend the spinach gnocchi!

  10. Django, 526 south 4th Street
This restaurant is a place where two completely different worlds meet. The freshly baked bread served in flower pots, the rustic furniture and the uncomplicated service create a charming, casual and homey environment, whilst the new and exquisite combinations of food add a touch of a luxurious and unforgettable culinary experience. Great for anyone who likes to try something new and don´t forget to bring a good bottle of wine!
